Propaganda: a message designed to persuade one’s audience to think or behave in a certain manner.
Advertising: the action of calling something to the attention of the public especially by paid announcement.
Marketing: to expose for sale or to sell; the commercial processes involved in promoting and selling and distributing a product (or service).
Cross promotion: an advertising campaign involving 2 companies selling their products together.
Product placement: a form of advertising where a brand or product is placed in the media in return for payment to the media maker.
Here are a few articles that prove that advertising companies partner with record companies to deliberately promote liquor in Rap/Pop music. So the next time you hear songs promoting drinking and drug use you'll know why..."for the money-they ADVERTISE!!!"

The project, produced and facilitated by AEeTech Edutainment Inc, involved the creation of a hip-hop record to target youth in grades 6-10. According to the 2007 Michigan Youth Risk Behavior Survey- 1 out every 5 teenagers has their first alcoholic drink before the age of 13; this makes engaging the youth of this grade range paramount to mounting a successful campaign against underage drinking. The record, titled "the SIGNS", will engage the youth at their level and raise their awareness regarding the subconscious imprinting of alcohol-related images and how these images influence their behavior and effect their perceptions.
The project involved youth, ages 12-17 years old, from the "Youth Farm Stand" (Capuchin Soup Kitchen's [Detroit] EarthWorks Urban Farm program) and engaged them in the following objectives:
⁃ creating awareness of project scope by sharing feelings on underage drinking and contributing factors.
⁃ creating awareness of deliberate promoting of alcohol in mainstream music through media literacy.
⁃ leveraging the impact of songwriting to reinforce the youth's power to counter underage drinking.
The youth of the Youth Farm Stand (YFS) are currently promoting "the SIGNS" record through live performances and are available for booking. For more information please contact: programs@theheru.org .
